Northwest Portland residents, by and large, are a very health-conscious bunch. The communities of yoga, pilates, hiking, biking and overall fitness enthusiasts is well-connected and thriving throughout the Northwest District, the Pearl District, Hillside, Old Town Chinatown and Northwest Industrial. Many of the studios and gyms in the area are one-location shops owned and operated by locals with a passion for good health and promoting a Portland ethos.
One such example is NW Pilates, a locally owned studio that serves Northwest Portland residents with an interest in personal pilates training. The studio focuses on providing a down-to-earth, custom-tailored approach between trainer and client, with small enough class sizes that everyone feels included and a friendly, communal aura to enhance a pilates workout.
The NW Pilates studio is open from 7 a.m. through 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. through noon on Saturdays; the studio is closed on Sundays. The studio is fully stocked with pilates-specific equipment, from a PPS System machine to a Wunda Chair. There is also ample wooden floor space for mats, and clients are encouraged to bring their own to a session.
The owner of NW Pilates Elizabeth Roisland developed an interesting in physical training and instruction at the age of 18. Since opening this studio in Northwest Portland in 2006, her approach has been to engage clients and make them feel welcome in an environment designed to increase physical fitness and mental fortitude.
The NW Pilates website includes a section regarding the current schedule, and another section regarding pricing. There are one-on-one sessions, the most popular option among NW Pilates‘ clients, and a handful of class options. Most classes are limited to four students, though there is a $15 mat pilates class with no set restriction on the number of students who will join the workout.
To sign up for a class or session, Northwest Portland pilates fans may use the NW Pilates website to submit contact information to Roisland. She may also be contacted at 503.222.9292 or firstname.lastname@example.org, so check out NW Pilates and determine which session best fits into the busy schedule of a Northwest Portland resident!
