Forecasters are predicting the strongest storm of the season to occur tomorrow, Wednesday, November 16th. Heavy snow will fall in the Cascades which is delightful news to fellow skiers, snowshoers and snowboarders. Snow levels will lower to just 1,500 feet which may cause snow to fall in the hills of Northwest Portland, which includes the Hillside neighborhood. Next Monday the snow level will fall even lower to 1,000 feet. In Portland winds are expected to gust to to 50- to 60-mph tomorrow, as heavy rain, and rain and wind spreading into the Willamette Valley. Temperatures will plummet from the 50s in Portland and by the weekend we may see the temperatures in the the mid-30s and 40s.
If the Portland area gets really cold, then the Oregon Trail chapter of the American Red Cross will open a warming center later this week if needed at Imago Dei Community at 1302 SE Ankeny St. The warming center would be open from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. To donate to the Red Cross, visit their website here.
